Buddy supporting Northwest charities
Everyone at M&W Freight works hard and enjoys developing the business, but there’s always time to watch our mascot Buddy supporting Northwest charities.
In early September we teamed up with Logic Wealth Planning. It was to raise funds for Springhill Hospice in Rochdale with a charity golf day.
M&W Freight has a number of clients in the Rochdale area. Some of the staff have personal links to the hospice.
Springhill offers specialist palliative care to patients and their families from diagnosis to end-of-life.
So, when we heard about the fundraiser, we jumped at the chance to get involved.
We all love a round of golf, so helping to organise the day, coordinate a raffle and host an auction was the least we could do.
What about M&W Freight’s BIG Buddy?
You must have seen our huge mascot by now? Along with a range of mini Buddies, we had several five-foot mascots made to support events over the next few years. They look amazing and create a real impression when you see them up close.
Donating one of our BIG Buddies seemed like a great way to get people talking at the golf day. It was also a good way to raise additional funds at the end-of-evening auction.
You can imagine what people must think when they see him in the passenger seat of an M&W Freight van!
Buddy certainly turned a few heads as we took him over to Rossendale Golf Club where the charity event took place.
Golf, great food and prizes
The golf was, to say the least, a challenge. Wind, rain, sun and then a bit more rain. That was the order of play!
Fourteen teams battled it out, and it was great to see sportsmen like Chris Schofield (cricket) and Ronnie Whelan (football) supporting the event.
Thanks must go to the staff at the clubhouse. They provided some excellent food as guests completed the 18 holes, dried off and settled down for the evening.
Some great prizes were donated for the raffle, and then the “Buddy” auction took place. Our mascot raised a fabulous £150 to boost the overall fundraising total to just over £5,000. Incredible!
We like to think of ourselves as your Buddy, someone who is always around, someone you can rely on. That’s how we have always operated, and we have no intention of changing.
Springhill Hospice loved Buddy, so we also offered to donate another of our five-foot cuddly mascots to help them at the forthcoming events they are hosting.
